Snowmobile safari to old Saami village Krasnoschelye during "Day of Reindeer People" Celebration.

The Lappish village Krasnoschelye is the place where three northern
nationality of "Reindeer people" live: the Lapps, the Nentsy and the Komi. They
possess a rich, unique folklore and use the distinctive and colourful
traditional clothes.
As a result of mixing customs, traditions and specialties of national suits,
Krasnoschelye village is an island of originality keeping old local folklore and
unique distinctive clothes of "Reindeer people".
The 6th and 7th of April 2012 the "Reindeer people" have a great
celebration reviving ancient habits and skills of the Northern nationalities.
We offer you to dip in the celebration atmosphere, to see the revived customs,
traditional games and competitions, to watch folk concerts, to taste home made
meal during the holiday. Krasnoschelye is reachable by a snowmobile or a
reindeer sledge (or by a helicopter) in Winter and by a helicopter, only, in
Summer. The snowmobiling on the snow covered space of Polar Land is fascinated
by itself, especially when warmth of fire place and cordial welcome are waiting
in the end of the way.

Snowmobile safari Krasnoschelye program description: |
Tour program 1:
Day 1, Wednesday, 4th of April: Evening arrival in Murmansk airport.
Meeting by taxi with a name plate (optional). Drive to Murmansk and check-in at
Meridian hotel (optional).
Day 2, Thursday, 5th of April: At 07.00 breakfast. At 07.30 a taxi
comes to bring you to Lovozero village to the start point of the tour
(optional). After a brief introduction and instruction how to drive snowmobile
we start to drive to the old Saami village Krasnoschelye. Wilderness lunch on
the way in a small wooden hunters house. Upon arrival in Krasnoschelye we have
dinner in a national CHUM sitting around a fire. Sauna. Overnight in a guest
house. Distance 140 km.
Day 3, Friday, 6th of April: After breakfast come to the village for
celebration "Day of Reindeer man" At 10:00 the Opening Ceremony starts from
casting lots. Event "towing a skier by a reindeers". Ski contest. Reindeer
sledge race. National Saami games. Trade outlets with local souvenirs and
products. Lunch on open air. In the afternoon Folk ensembles start their show.
In the evening come back to the guest house. Sauna. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 4, Saturday, 7th of April: Breakfast and come to the village to see
the continuation of the holiday. Lunch on open air. At 14.00 come back to the
guest house and snowmobile back to Lovozero village. Lunch in a small wooden
hunters house on the way. Changing clothes. Transfer to the airport or to
Murmansk (optional). Distance 140 km.

Tour program 2:

All tours include: rent of snowmobile, petrol, full equipment (overalls, helmet, balaclava, boots, gloves) and snowmobile guide/instructor.
Remark: The tour program can be changed depend on the weather condition.
Training:
Before driving, the participants select the necessary equipment - overalls, helmets, shoes etc. After that participants are instructed for avalanche
safety and a short course of driving a snowmobile. During the training sessions the instructor sits behind the pupil, controlling the movement in the test drive.
After dressing and instructions, which can take about 30-50 minutes (depending of group size), the tour starts. The participants drive in colonna behind the
snowmobile instructor and keep a distance between the snowmobile in front of , the distance between any snowmobiles from 25 to 100m. While driving
participants can make stops to explore the surroundings or for photography.

Driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol is prohibited.Overtaking other snowmobiles, driving off-track and not keeping distance between snowmobiles is not allowed.Ruling a snowmobile under 16 years old is not permittedDriving a snowmobile without a helmet is prohibited.Chasing wildlife by snowmobile is expressly prohibited.
