Living on the Kola Peninsula we have an opportunity to observe one of nature’s most spectacular phenomena; Northern Lights, more than 150 nights during a year. You can see this most impressive light show – lasting from a few minutes to several days. Northern Lights is a unique natural phenomenon, the dancing fluorescent ribbons that light up the night sky.

This winter and next are predicted to be the best for Northern Lights seasons for many years. Some scientists describe this period as Solar Maximum. It means the sunspot activity is at its height. The sunspots produce solar flares creating the northern lights when they hit the earth’s atmosphere. The Northern Lights are usually seen in September and April in the sky above the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions what makes the Northern Russia and especially the Kola Peninsula ideal location for observing it.

We cannot create the Northern Lights or to book it from The God ☺ as well as to guarantee the clear cloudless sky. You need fortune to catch the stroke of luck. It is like with real hunting – you never know if you come back with a trophy. We can do a broadcasting but not earlier than 1-2 days in front with probability of Northern Lights appearing of 90%. So, we offer our tours without reservation of our guide for Northern Lights watching. If you want to be more sure to see Northern Lights you can make preliminary reservation for Northern Lights watching accompanied with our guide. In this case if there is the good broadcasting for Northern Light in the sky for the coming night the guide comes to the hotel to collect you for the "hunting". The guide brings you to a place where the Northern Lights can appear in the sky with 90% probability.

Beside it - skiing and snowmobiling as well as sightseeing of the specific area named Kola Peninsula.

The Solar Maximum happens about every 11 years. Do not miss this unique opportunity!

Nothern Lights Program description:

Day 1: Arrival in Murmansk airport. Since this very moment you get chance to see Northern Lights at any moment. Meeting by a taxi with name plate and transfer to the hotel, check-in. The hotel is located on a rock above the city and far away from city lights. If there is Northern Light in the sky you can go out and make first photos. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2: Stay in Murmansk. During the day you can explore the city on your own or to take Optional excursions in Murmansk or suburbs. In the afternoon – transfer to Monchegorsk city and check-in at a hotel. As soon as it is getting dark if there is the good broadcasting for Northern Light in the sky the guide comes to the hotel to collect you for the Northern Lights "hunting". Overnight in the hotel.

Optional: ▪ 1 Day tour to Saami Settlement
Optional: ▪ 1 Day tour to the Barents Sea Shore (available in period from 01.06 to 30.09)

Day 3: Transfer to Kirovsk city. Check-in at a hotel. You can watch cities Kirovsk and Apatity during the day. As soon as it is getting dark if there is the good broadcasting for Northern Light in the sky the guide comes to the hotel to collect you for the Northern Lights "hunting". Overnight in the hotel.

Day 4: Because we cannot be sure for 100% where the Northern Lights appears the day can be different: we can stay in Kirovsk or remove to another city of Kola Peninsula. We will decide it later – closer to the day of your arrival based on information got from a science department. In the evening if there is the good broadcasting for Northern Light in the sky the guide comes to the hotel to collect you for the Northern Lights "hunting". Overnight in the hotel.

Day 5: Transfer to Murmansk airport.
